| So, I just got back from my "vacation" in Springfield, MO. Yeah, I know, pretty lame that I didn't spend it anywhere near a beach, but I had an absolute blast. I forgot just how much I miss my family and friends down there. Who knows, maybe I'll be back down there soon. ;) On a totally different note, I have some very exciting news, but I can't quite share it yet. Maybe here in the next couple of weeks... Meanwhile, VBS start tonight and I am totally stressed out about it. I never stress out about things like this, but I feel totally unprepared, which is not a good thing. Besides the fact that I've spent this past week out of town and out of touch with everyone involved in VBS, I'm doing crafts which is a new area for me. I'm not the most creative or crafty person ever, so I'm pretty nervous about it all working out right. Then next week I have VBS at my parents church and I'm in charge of the worship time, but all of the songs are in Spanish and I'm not familiar with any of them! So, needless to say, I'm going to be pretty busy and stressed out the next couple of weeks.
I turn 20 on Friday and it's kind of weird. I know it's not a huge deal, but I officially not be a "teen" anymore. lol kinda crazy but good at the same time. Well, I had better get back to work. I just figured since I had a little bit of stress, that I would get on here and kinda update. :)
| Haven't updated in a while, and I really don't feel like writing a whole lot. Tomorrow is the day that my church closes on the loan, but loans can be trickey and they always find last minute things that they need. Work is going so well and I really am enjoying it. I think this is the first job that I've liked so much. I've been keeping super busy with work and softball for church. We had a great game last week. I hit a homerun the second time I was up to bat, which felt absolutely incredible!! So the third time I was up, they intentionally walked me. Who intentionally walks in slow pitch??? Anyways, the next girl that was up after me hit a homerun, so it made up for it :) Well, I really don't feel like writing much more, so I'm off to bed. There's not much more happening in my life anyways. So, until next time "keep on keepin' on!" | | |
| I love my family!!!! I got to spend pretty much all afternoon on Easter with them! We all went to my Grandparents house and ate Easter dinner and then just chilled out and talked. Well, the "old folks" talked. Me and my cousin (whom I haven't seen in quite a while) just sat back and made fun of all of them. They kept complaining that they couldn't remember a thing from last week, but they can recall minute details from 30 years ago. It was so much fun just talking and laughing with my cousin. :) Easter Sunday at church was absolutely amazing!! We had so many people there. Now it's expected, since it's Easter to have a high attendance, but we had about 100 more people there than we usually run. It was very encouraging. We're in the final stages of getting prepared to build our new building, whichi is so incredibly exciting!! We've been praying for this for about 4 years now. Now the final step is just to go before the board of trustees for the township, get the permits and FINALLY sign on the loan!! All this should be happening withing the next 3 weeks and we should be ready to actually begin building by the end of May/beginning of June! :) God is blessing in so many ways that I can't even begin to describe and tell! I would be sitting here for hourse just typing away and that's not very productive of me at work!! hehe Well, I just wanted to update and let you all know what's going on in the fabulous life of Kristen!! lol until next time... "Keep on keepin' on!!" | | |
| Well, I'm stuck at home sick.... and it sucks!!! This is probably THE worst week to get sick. At work, there are only 3 women counting me... I was sick today, and Darci is on vacation all this week so that left Nelli with all three of our duties! I'm gonna definitely have to think up of a way to make this up to her! She's such a great person and a trooper!!! I'm sitting here eating the staple sick food... toast and ginger ale!! BLAH!!!!
Well, I was very cautious to add this part of the blog, but I honestly want to hear people's opinions... I can't guarantee everything I say, you all will agree with me, but if you're reading this, you know that my parents work with the Hispanics every day and that I have very close ties to them here in the States. I'm not sure how many of you watch the news, but yesterday thousands of Hispanics gathered in cities all over the United States to peacefully protest about the bill that stalled last week in Congress. I'm not totally positive of all the ramifications these proposed billd have, but I do know that there are many many different options that Congress has been debating. Now, I totally agree that a lot of the Hispanics are here illegally, and that's not right and something has to be done about keeping more from coming in. There is an estimated 11 million illegal Hispanics here in the US. But, what is proposed about the children that were born legally here in the US? Are they going to send their parents back to Mexico, but leave the kids here? I would definitely not want to be in the position that the people of our Congress are in!! I respect them a great deal.
People say that the Hispanics just want free stuff such as healthcare, and sadly to say, there are some that do want to just have a free ride. But, there are also many American citizens who take advantage of the government and the healthceare system. Just as there are many American citizens that work hard for what they have and truly want to make their way through life without taking advantage of people, there are many Hispanics that work hard, pay taxes and contribute to the society! It's wrong to judge all Hispanics in America by a select few who don't care and take advantage of America. That's like saying, "Well, one guy was a jerk to me, so all of them are jerks!!!" You can't do that. I know that there will be some that will say that I have a different perspective, and yes, I do! There will be some that say that I am biased.. and that may be so to. I'm not saying that I have all the answers b/c this is a complicated situation. Like I said, I don't envy the people in Congress. They have a tough job, epecially knowing that they will never keep everyone happy!!! So, let me know your thoughts on this. I'm not trying to be argumentative.. I just want to hear other views on the issue!
| YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found a job. Well, a job found me. I got a random call while I was in Spfld last weekend telling me that they wanted to get me in for an interview. To make a really long story short, my first day of work is tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. as a receptionist for Cleveland Construction Company. I'm so excited and it seems to be a pretty simple job. How hard can answering phones, copying, filing, and faxing be?? Well, I have to wake up pretty early tomorrow so this isn't long, I just wanted to keep people updated!! | | |
